INDIA WAVES DANCE MUQABLA DANCE CONTEST 2010:
Congratulations to IFDA's senior team for winning the Dance Muqabla contest that was held on April 3rd. Glimpses of the event will be telecast on India waves program on Saturday and Sunday starting April 10th, 2010.
IFDA WINTER FEST:
IFDA's Winter Fest held on Dec 5th 2009 was a grand success. The students rocked the stage with various forms of dances including BOLLYWOOD, BANGHRA, SEMI-CLASSICAL and FOLK dances. Click for photos from the event
JHALAK DREAMS 2009
Our annual event Jhalak Dreams which was also a fundraiser for OSAAT, a non-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding the infrastructure of education in rural India, was a huge success
OSAAT Dance Competitions
We are extremely happy to announce that our adults team won the second place in the OSAAT dance competitions held on Feb 21st.

IFDA Christmas party:
IFDA celebrated its Christmas party on December 10th. The event was very well attended and the kids performed and danced all through the evening.Jhoom 2008:
IFDA students are performed at Jhoom 2008 organised by the Evergreen Indian Cultural Association (EICA) on November 15th.The performances was widely appreciated.

Oakland Chinatown Streetfest - August 21st:
Our Students performed in the Oakland Streetfest proudly showing off our culture in a diverse group of Internationl audience. Our music and dance captured and brought in so many audience.
People were watching and applauding from the balconies of buildings as our students performed. It was surely an awe inspiring day.
Fremont Independence Day Dance Competition - August 16th:
Our kids participated in the Fremont Independence Day dance competition and won the second place in folk category. Congratulations to my students who put in hard work for practice and performance.
Indian-Fusion Dance Showcase/ Fundraiser
Jhalak dreams 2008:

Jhalak Dreams, our annual show and fundraiser for Jeena was a grand success with tickets sold out 2 weeks before the event.
The show was exceptional with top of the line audio-visual sound effects and exceptional performances by students.
ICC Youth Sava 2008
Our kids participated in the junior film category did extremely well. We also did an adult showcase that was extremely well received. The highlight was a comment from the judge who came up and said "I have been here since morning and I can clearly say that this is the best dance I have seen so far"
Bay Area Telugu Association - April 5th:
Our kids participated in the BATA dance competition and won the third place among 7 other very talented teams. Congratulations to all my students who put in hard work at the practice and the performance
Infusion 2008 - March 23rd:
Indian-Fusion Dance Academy Students rocked the Amador Theatre with their fantastic performance of Classical and Jazz Fusion. The applause continued all throughout the performance and took a long time to die after.
Jhoom 2007:
SUNNYVALE, CA: The students of Indian-Fusion dance Academy set the stage on fire while performing in Jhoom 2007 organised by the Evergreen Cultural Association and held at the Sunnyvale temple auditorium on November 18th 2007. Our school had four unique dance numbers and were enthusiastically received by the audience. All four dances were clearly the highlight of the evening.

Performance at the Karoake Star of the Bay Area, Oct 19th 2007
The organisers of Karoake Star of the Bay Area Competition requested that
our school provides them with two dance numbers. One of them was the opening number. The opening number was performed by Aditi Chopra and Sunitha Ramesh.
The dance was Des Rangeela from the movie Fanaa.
The number turned out to be a great opening number and was greatly appreciated by all.
The second number was Crazykiyare and Dhoom Machale performed by Diya Veturi. Divya did a fantastic job and was received by the audience with a long applause.

Multicultural Festivities in St.Francis Of Assisi Church in San Jose CA, Oct 6th, 2007
St.Francis Of Assissi church in Evergreen San Jose held their Feast day on Oct 6th
2007 and the multicultural day was a part of the celebration. Groups of performers from various cultures participated and we were invited to represent Indian culture.
The first performance was a semi-classical piece choreographed and performed by Selvi Pragasam, Stella Rajakumar and Isabella John. That was followed by a group Bollywood folk by the Advance Level III class. The third item was a demo by Selvi where she got everyone to the feet dancing with her to the beats of Nachle Ve. It was great fun to see people from different cultures doing Bangra and Bollywood dance steps. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly.

Performance supporting the We Reach Out Organization, June 2nd, 2007:
More than 25 students performed at the annual meeting of the We Reach Out organization held at ICC on June 2nd. The foundation serves a valuable cause of funding for graduate studies in India for kids who cannot afford to do so. The performance was greatly appreciated by all who were present and provided the much needed entertainment after a long day of presentations and brainstorming.
The performers were then presented with participation certificates by the founder of the organization.

SAN JOSE, CA: Indian-Fusion Dance Academy presented its first dance showcase on May 12th, 2007 at 'The Pointe' church main auditorium in Evergreen, San Jose, CA. The event was a grand success. It was attended by almost 500 people. Although a free event, it was a fundraiser for Propionic Acidemia Foundation, a rare genetic disorder.
The evening started off rightfully with a semi-classical number performed by Selvi Pragasam, the founder and director of Indian-Fusion Dance Academy and other ladies from the dance school. It was followed by the little ones from level I class performing the Salaame Namaste's title song. This was followed by the toe tapping number 'Where is the party tonight' by Tuesday level III class.
Elaina Jurecki, a well known, experienced Kaiser nutritionist specializing in Propionic Acidemia gave a PowerPoint presentation, explaining the medical condition and why funds were necessary to do the research. The fun continued with Bumbaroo performed by level I class. The kids were exceptionally colorful and coordinated.
Next the Sunday adult class performed wonderfully for a medley of songs from the movie Paheli, Guru and Chup Chup Ke. They moved and grooved and went in and out of formations with ease, bringing in a new flavor to the
This was followed by the evergreen number from Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge 'Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna'. The level II kids? class performed this number. The audience was virtually transported back to the land of Punjab. The performance was received with a thunderous applause. This was followed by a short intermission.
The first number to lead off after the intermission was the beautiful Bumbaroo from level I class of another group.
The kids were extremely adorable and performed like pros. The last numbers were the highlight of the evening.
Dhoom Mix was performed by level III students andbrought everyone up dancing on their feet.
The grand finale was an exclusive Indian-fusion dance academy presentation. It was a combination of audio-visual and a solo performance by Selvi Pragasam. The audio visual presentation was projected on three 40mm screens. It was choreographed to Krishna Nee Begane fusion song by colonial brothers. It highlighted the theme of diversity, peace and love. Selvi Pragasam's classical dance representation of the theme was fantastic and held the audience spell bound with expressions and movements.
The presentation was unique and powerful. It was the best number to end an evening for a noble cause while having fun. The event raised over $3000 for the foundation, just through donations, silent auction anad food.

Grand Opening
Indian-Fusion Academy was founded and opened on October 14th, 2006 by Selvi Pragasam. The ceremony started off with ribbon cutting by Selvi's parents. It was then followed by snacks and photo exhibition. Selvi demoed the class structure. Selvi also answered parent's questions regarding her experience as a dancer, choreographer and teacher. The occasion was well attended and the school enrolled 20 students on its first day.
